Sulfur Track Trench Replacement & Sump Project

Aurora, NC

Project Description:

Trader Construction was contracted by an industrial client to remove and replace a precast concrete railcar sulfur dump trench system critical to plant operations. The system allows molten sulfur to be discharged from railcars into a trench, where it flows to a central collection sump. The project scope included demolition of the existing trench, subgrade preparation, installation of new precast trench sections, and placement of a 125,000-pound precast sump. Additionally, new rail was installed atop the trench system. Executed during a continuous 7-day-a-week plant shutdown, this high-priority project demanded precision and efficiency under a challenging timeline—which was successfully met without delay.
