Pitt-Greenville Airport Runway 2-20 Rehabilitation

Greenville, NC

Project Description:

The Pitt-Greenville Airport Runway 2-20 Rehabilitation project encompassed a comprehensive series of airfield infrastructure upgrades designed to enhance safety, durability, and operational efficiency. Key phases of the project included GPS controlled profiled asphalt milling and resurfacing of the runway, followed by precision pavement grooving and striping to improve aircraft traction and visibility. Upgrades also involved modernizing runway and taxiway lighting systems, repairing 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) joints, and implementing soil stabilization through targeted grouting. The majority of this work was successfully completed during a continuous 21-day runway closure, with operations running 24 hours a day to meet the demanding schedule.
