ILM Drainage Erosion Mitigation

Project Description:

The purpose of the Ditch/Drainage Runoff – Mitigation project was to complete repairs to Wilmington International Airport’s drainage system, which was damaged during a flooding event. The affected area was located adjacent to the northern side of Runway 6. The project scope included repairs and improvements to an existing drainage ditch and fence crossing. Key items of work included erosion control measures, dewatering, grading, installation of a new precast headwall, placement of articulated block mats, relocation of airfield fencing, and final grassing. Due to the proximity to active airfield operations and existing utilities, the project required close coordination with airport staff and utility entities.
